Hello!
Thanks for joining us at the Business of Adventure. Find out the secrets of those who make a living and are growing a business from their passion for the outdoors. All delivered in 5 minute reads. While the backdrop may be rock climbing, kayaking or mountain biking, the challenges we’re talking about are finding customers, building a reputation and managing cash.
Doing what you love and getting paid (well) for it in other words!
If that’s you, we hope you’ll get some inspiration and new ideas from the people that feature here and we’d love to invite you to share your own story - so get in touch if you’d like to discuss what’s involved.
And if you’re wondering whether you should make the leap to running an adventure business, read on: there are some great tips from those who’ve been there already.
We also hope these stories are a good read for a wider audience. Perhaps you’ve been out with guides and instructors as a client and are curious to know more about the sort of people who run these businesses.
Or maybe you run a business of a different kind - there are some useful lessons here for all kinds of entrepreneurs from potters to lawyers.
About the Adventure Collective
The Business of Adventure is part of an initiative called The Adventure Collective. The Adventure Collective is a collaborative space for adventure guides, coaches, suppliers and enthusiasts who believe that working together is a better way of making a living from their passion than working in isolation. It was set up initially by two experienced business creators and marketers, Paul Griffith and Victoria Ash with the help and encouragement of a bunch of guides met via Wild Plans.
We’re hoping to build a portfolio of services for the sector, which is likely to include
Business skills workshops
Mentoring and coaching
Access to shared or outsourced business support like designers and bookkeepers
Watch this space - and as a collaboration we’re keen to know what adventure businesses need to thrive, so get in touch if you’d like to chat.
