Learning, learning, learning
Introducing Adam Evans: at the top of his profession and still looking to take his career and his business to new places. (Adam Evans part I)
There’s a lot to learn from talking with Adam Evans, the acclaimed outdoor trainer and expedition leader. Perhaps that’s not surprising considering how much Adam himself has learned (check out the extremely long list of qualifications on his website!). But first let us introduce Adam here. Further down the page there are details of the key insights covered in subsequent articles.
Adam Evans is an extremely accomplished and well qualified Caving and Canoeing guide and coach with a couple of differences.
The first difference is that he’s justifiably proud that his hard work over the years puts him in the select group of adventurers who can claim to have a career that’s paid the mortgage.
The more important difference is that the expeditions and training courses he tailors for you are as much for your mind as for your body – if you’re up for it. Many of us know that a very real fringe benefit of outdoor and wilderness activities is the beneficial effect on our mental health. Adam has taken that, and his qualifications, a stage further. He uses your outdoor pursuits to help you with your personal development, leading you to understand what beliefs may be holding you back and discovering ways to change those beliefs. Check out the testimonials on his Mental Game website to see how this benefits people not only in upping their physical game, but also in their day-to-day lives and jobs.
Adam is based in the UK’s Peak District and operates all over the world. He works with individuals and small groups, from enthusiastic amateurs to experienced adventurers. When not coaching and guiding in the outdoors he’s working with the likes of TV crews including the BBC and National Geographic, the British Archaeological Survey and Police Search and Rescue Teams.
So, what can we learn from Adam’s career success? And what insights can we draw from his three wishes?
