Introducing Moose Mutlow
How to build a long-term career in the outdoors (And do qualifications matter?)
In our next podcast episode, we’re talking to a really fascinating and forthright guest: Moose Mutlow. As someone who’s worked in the outdoors for more than four decades, he’s got some absolutely amazing advice and experience to share about building a sustainable career.
Born in the UK, he’s worked as an outdoor instructor, ski guide, teacher and search and rescue expert around the world, as well as writing books and broadcasting. Now resident in the Yosemite National Park in the US, he has been a member and senior trainer of Yosemite Search and Rescue since 2002, working as a technician and within Incident Command, at one of the busiest SAR operations in the world.Â
Moose currently also works for NatureBridge in Yosemite National Park as the Senior Projects Director for planning, design and construction of the National Environmental Science Center.Â
In the podcast he talks talks frankly, and sometimes controversially, about getting started in the adventure business, the value of qualifications versus experience, and how to adapt and diversify your career when you’ve passed your physical peak as a leader or guide. He’s also got lots to say about the opportunities and challenges in working in different countries, based on his experiences in the UK, USA, Australia, France and Botswana.
The podcast will be going live in the next couple of weeks so subscribe to make sure you’re among the first to hear! And please do share with anyone else who might be interested.
